OSM Bangladesh Mapping Platform
Led Bangladesh's largest individual OSM contribution campaign, mapping 55,566 buildings and achieving #1 contributor status in 2022.
Organized and executed systematic mapping campaigns focusing on underserved areas of Bangladesh, using JOSM and iD editor. Built quality assurance workflows and trained 50+ mappers through YouthMappers at Jahangirnagar University.
Highlights
Large areas of Bangladesh lacked accurate building footprints and road networks in OpenStreetMap, hampering disaster response and urban planning.
Developed systematic mapping methodology with QA pipelines, organized mapathons, and contributed 296,448 map changes across 926 changesets.
