Professional Summary
Geospatial and research professional with over nine years of experience in Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, spatial data analysis, and project coordination across public health, climate resilience, and disaster risk management. Currently serving as Senior Research Officer at icddr,b, contributing to a community-level cholera outbreak prediction and early warning project. Proficient in ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, Google Earth Engine, Python, and PostgreSQL/PostGIS, with expertise in satellite image processing, geospatial database development, web mapping, and data visualization. Experienced in coordinating multidisciplinary research, collaborating with government agencies and international partners, delivering technical training, and contributing to scientific publications. Previous roles include research consultancy at the Asian Institute of Technology and geospatial research at Jahangirnagar University. Holds master’s degrees in Computer Science and Engineering and Geography and Environment.
Research Interests
My research sits where geospatial science meets public health and climate. I use satellite Earth observation, GIS and statistical and machine-learning models to understand how climate and environment shape disease risk and wellbeing, and to turn that evidence into early-warning tools for low-resource settings.
Current focus: climate-sensitive infectious disease (cholera and diarrhoeal illness), heat and air quality exposure at the Chakaria Health and Demographic Surveillance System, urban air pollution (NO2) from Sentinel-5P, spatial access to health facilities, and flood, landslide and climate-displacement risk.
Methods: spatial analysis and modelling, satellite image processing and land-use/land-cover change, DEM analysis, drone mapping, geostatistics, machine learning for geospatial prediction, interactive WebGIS and geovisualisation (animated maps, infographics, atlases).
Skills
GIS software: ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, GeoServer, ERDAS Imagine, ArcMap, ArcScene, ArcGlobe
Remote sensing: Google Earth Engine, supervised & unsupervised classification, NDVI, DEM & slope analysis, image enhancement, texture analysis
Programming: Python (ArcPy, GeoPandas, GDAL/OGR, NumPy, Pandas, SciPy, Matplotlib), R, JavaScript, SQL
WebGIS & web: Leaflet, OpenLayers, Mapbox, React, Django, Node.js, PHP, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, MySQL, MongoDB, Git
Field data: ArcGIS Survey123, KoboCollect, Google Forms, OpenStreetMap, Mapillary
Design & motion: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, After Effects, Premiere Pro, Figma, Blender, Cinema 4D
Languages: Bangla (native), English (professional working proficiency)
